Day 187 July 6
I braved the heat and crowds and went to Shinjuku to an antique camera shop to see if I could get a battery for my old Minolta. They supplied me with an adapter that lets me use regular button batteries.
Day 189 July 8
I took Baba for a walk and did all the other regular things. I also tried focus stacking in photo shop for the first time. This is a composite of 3 pictures taken with different focal points.
Day 193 July 12
This is a late afternoon shot in light drizzle. The cones are here to keep taxi drivers from parking in the bus loading zone. This is just around the corner from our house, and we used to be able to catch a taxi here 24/7, but no more...
Day 194 July 13
These anti-theft stickers are everywhere - on windows, on fences, on the sides of buildings, and even on big delivery trucks. I pass this one often while walking with Baba and have been watching it weather in the rain
Day 196 July 15
We have a new modern coffee shop in our neighborhood that sells things like cafe latte with soy milk. Unfortunately it is closed most of the time. I thought it was a good image for us since we are shutting down house and will be on our way to the US at 6:30 am tomorrow morning. Whoopee!
In the evening Seishi and I wandered down by the tracks to see if we could get some pictures of those big trains, but none passed by while we were there. You can see the lights of down town in the distance.
Day 206 Saturday, July 24
We traveled in the late afternoon from Pittsburgh to Seattle. Seishi was such a sweetheart and gave me his free upgrade to first class. This is Ranier, taken from my first class window seat.
Day 210 Wednesday, July 28
We camped out on Tuesday night, and in the morning Linda and I hiked to Lake Ann. The scenery was so beautiful. We continued on to Oroville where we spent the night with Aunt Ethel.
Day 211 Thursday July 29
We spent the night at Jessie and John's. They live on the shores of Lake Oosoyos, so have wonderful views. It was difficult to choose a picture for this day, but ended up picking this one of Linda and Jessie in front of of John's art work.
Day 212 Friday, July 30
We drove through peach and apple orchards on the way to Martha and Lars'. I got some wonderful pictures of ripe peaches and nectarines on the trees, but decided on these cute quails from the Karstead's back yard. They have deer and other wild animals that come up to visit often. It is quite appropriate for them since Lars is a wild life veterinarian.
